About Us

Casta Diva was established in 1985, designing and producing opera costumes for major entities across the United States including: New York City Opera/Lincoln Center, Baltimore Opera, Opera Columbus, Houston Grand Opera, Miami Opera, Augusta Opera, Opera Memphis, Indianapolis Opera, Nashville Opera, Knoxville Opera, Nevada Opera, San Diego Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, and Opera Grand Rapids. Casta Diva designed and produced numerous operas including Anna Bolena, Boris Godunov, Carmen, Aida, Don Carlos, Otello II Trovatore, Lucia di Lammermoor, Norma, Die Fledermaus, Tosha, Madama Butterfy, The Mikado, Elixir di Amore, Don Giovanni, Marriage of Figaro, Barber of Seville, Cosi fan Tutti, Samson & Delilah, The Tales of Hoffmann, and Rigoletto.

In 2000, we decided to make a change and liquidated several productions in order to purchase shops at renaissance festivals. Many of our featured designs evolved from our stage pieces – for example, the Costanza and the Robin evolved from a costume designed for Mozart's Marriage of Figaro.

Sometimes our inspiration comes from within, such as the Henrietta. This corset is our gold standard, based on the one worn by Lelia's great-great aunt Henrietta Chamberlain who was the wife of Richard King of King Ranch, home of the Quarter Horse. Who knew that when the Henrietta debuted that Casta Diva would later establish a presence at many rodeos across the country!

More recently, Casta Diva has introduced their artistic batik and fabric painting techniques into new clothing lines. Bringing new colors and approaches to ancient arts, Casta Diva has developed various custom colorizing for our product lines. Casta Diva prides itself on American excellence, specializes in superior fabric choices, jewel colors, and flattering designs to compliment ANY body.
